Turning Trump's Loss into Lasting Policy Change

Democrats gained control of Congress on Tuesday as voters rebuked the Trump regime’s corruption — and put a diverse and inspiring group of new leaders into power.
We saw countless victories that will bring us ever closer to a representative, multiracial democracy. We saw the public reject the influence of dark money and deceitful political messaging. And we might be seeing a historic opportunity to expose corruption, rein in the power of billionaires and begin building the media system our communities need.
Free Press Action is ready for this moment
The week before the election, we met with key committee leaders on Capitol Hill to start preparing for what’s next. We’re pushing for oversight hearings, giving lawmakers tough questions to ask Trump officials, and demanding investigations into corporations who colluded with Trump to advance fascism and attack press freedom and other civil rights.
We’re urging Senate leaders to impeach appointees and block nominees who refuse to uphold the Constitution. And we’re setting the agenda for legislation at the state and federal level that builds a diverse and independent public-media system, protects dissent and privacy, and empowers communities to stop the proliferation of data centers.
Voters rejected officials who put money and self-interest over serving the people. They rejected ICE and the surveillance tech that powers its reign of terror. They rejected racism and other forms of hate. In response, Free Press Action will work overtime to pass structural policy reforms that improve people’s lives.
We know that true participatory democracy will have no chance at long-term survival if we fail to insist on serious changes now.
