During the event in Los Angeles, Gomez took a forceful stance against government censorship and intimidation of U.S. media. 

FCC Commissioner Anna M. Gomez launched the tour earlier this year in response to escalating federal encroachments on speech and editorial independence.

Any action the FTC undertakes here could easily travel down a slippery slope to censorship, and that seems to be the point.

“Carr is gleefully carrying out the president’s orders to roll back civil-rights protections and equal-opportunity gains at all costs,” said Free Press’ Matt Wood.
