Netflix is now planning to participate in the Internet-Wide Day of Action to Save Net Neutrality on July 12, protest organizers said.

“We’re disappointed by the court’s decision to deny the stay, but still plan to show the unlawful nature of the FCC’s arbitrary and capricious decision under review in this case,” said Free Press Policy Counsel Gaurav Laroia in a statement.

“We welcome Commissioner Rosenworcel’s return to the FCC,” said Free Press’ Craig Aaron. “She is one of the most knowledgeable commissioners ever to serve at the agency.”

Timothy Karr, senior director of strategy for Free Press and Free Press Action Fund, said that a more severe sentence was merited.

WASHINGTON — On Tuesday, a federal appeals court struck down several provisions in the FCC’s recent decisions to cap the cost of prison- and jail-phone calls.

At a recent event held in Asbury Park, local residents and members of the local media came together with Free Press Action Fund to brainstorm how proceeds from the $332-million sale of old public-media licenses should be used to better inform communities.

“The FCC wants to destroy Net Neutrality and give big cable companies control over what we see and do online,” activist groups Demand Progress, Fight for the Future and Free Press said in an announcement today. “If they get their way, they’ll allow widespread throttling, blocking, censorship and extra fees. On July 12th, the Internet will come together to stop them.”

Companies such as Amazon, Kickstarter, Vimeo, reddit, Mozilla, and Etsy are participating in an “internet-wide day of action to save Net Neutrality” on July 12. Fight for the Future, Free Press Action Fund and Demand Progress are organizing companies to make sure those rules stick around.

There’s something that Americans of varied political affiliations — Democrats, Republicans and Independents — largely agree on: the need to protect Net Neutrality.

Several internet-activist groups and major tech companies will join together to protest the Federal Communications Commission’s attempt to dismantle Net Neutrality with a day of protest next month.
