Fundraisers who raised cash for Clinton’s campaign are helping corporations lobby to overturn Net Neutrality, deregulate finance and build prisons.

TV station powerhouse Sinclair Broadcast Group raised a few eyebrows in April when it hired Boris Epshteyn as its chief political analyst. Epshteyn, after all, was a combative TV surrogate for President Trump during the presidential campaign and briefly was a Trump administration press aide, raising an obvious question: How independent would his political analysis be?

TRENTON — On Monday, advocates rallied in Trenton in support of legislation that would use millions in proceeds from the recent spectrum auction to help fix New Jersey’s local news crisis.

Netflix is now planning to participate in the Internet-Wide Day of Action to Save Net Neutrality on July 12, protest organizers said.

“We welcome Commissioner Rosenworcel’s return to the FCC,” said Free Press’ Craig Aaron. “She is one of the most knowledgeable commissioners ever to serve at the agency.”

“We’re disappointed by the court’s decision to deny the stay, but still plan to show the unlawful nature of the FCC’s arbitrary and capricious decision under review in this case,” said Free Press Policy Counsel Gaurav Laroia in a statement.

WASHINGTON — On Tuesday, a federal appeals court struck down several provisions in the FCC’s recent decisions to cap the cost of prison- and jail-phone calls.

Timothy Karr, senior director of strategy for Free Press and Free Press Action Fund, said that a more severe sentence was merited.

At a recent event held in Asbury Park, local residents and members of the local media came together with Free Press Action Fund to brainstorm how proceeds from the $332-million sale of old public-media licenses should be used to better inform communities.

“The FCC wants to destroy Net Neutrality and give big cable companies control over what we see and do online,” activist groups Demand Progress, Fight for the Future and Free Press said in an announcement today. “If they get their way, they’ll allow widespread throttling, blocking, censorship and extra fees. On July 12th, the Internet will come together to stop them.”
