Tell the FCC to Abandon Its Baseless and Bigoted Attacks on Trans People

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr is always trying to score political points with Trump — which is why he’s always looking for ways to weaponize the agency against the people it’s supposed to serve. His latest scheme is not just immoral; it’s something he has no legal authority to influence.

Demand that the FCC drop its transphobic and partisan inquiry into television shows featuring LGBTQIA+ characters.

To FCC Commissioners:

The agency has no legal authority to regulate television ratings. This proceeding is not about serving families; it’s Brendan Carr’s blatant attempt to score points with his political allies. Gender identity is not sexual, violent or obscene in the words of the law that created these industry ratings, and the FCC has no power to dictate those ratings either.

Trans and gender-nonconforming people are a beautiful part of our communities. They, like everyone else, deserve to see themselves represented in our media.

Stop this disgusting, baseless and bigoted attack on trans people and other members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
