Dana supports the policy team on a wide range of media and broadband issues, researching and articulating policy solutions that serve the public interest. A former Free Press intern, she earned her B.A. in communications and public service at the University of Pennsylvania, where she wrote her thesis on the rhetorical history of the municipal broadband debate in Seattle.     WASHINGTON — On Tuesday, Free Press filed its reply to last week’s Sinclair Broadcast Group merger filing at the Federal Communications Commission. Sinclair’s filing should have been an opportunity for the company to explain the supposed benefits of its merger with Tribune Media Company, but Sinclair largely used its submission to attack organizations and individuals that asked the FCC to deny the proposed deal.
  • Free Press Moves to Stop Disastrous Sinclair-Tribune Mega-Merger

    WASHINGTON — On Monday, Free Press filed a formal challenge at the Federal Communications Commission to the proposed merger of Sinclair Broadcast Group and Tribune Media Company. The petition to deny seeks to halt the transfer of broadcast licenses that would give Sinclair control of more than 233 local TV stations reaching 72 percent of the country’s population, far in excess of congressional and FCC limits on national and local media ownership.
