Imani (she/her) guides strategy and production of rapid response and recurring multimedia content across multiple channels, including web, social media, email marketing and blogs, as well as additional digital channels to further Free Press’ growth. She believes in empowering marginalized communities in ways that give them the skills to remove or pressure oppressive power players so that self-determination and true liberation can be achieved. Imani adheres to the Saul Alinsky school of thought when it comes to organizing and believes that in politics power is the only key to securing the needs of the people. Prior to working at Free Press, Imani worked for the U.S. Senate, the New Jersey Legislature, a range of nonprofits and progressive media spaces. She earned her B.S. from Howard University, her M.A. from New York University and her J.D. from Howard University School of Law. In whatever free time capitalism will allow, Imani likes to read, visit the Jersey Shore and explore the outdoors.
