Music on Our Own Terms

Full article: SavetheInternet.com
Jean Cook
Today's artists are using the open Internet to connect with audiences and advance their careers on their own terms. Net Neutrality applies only to lawful content, sites and services. Ensuring compensation for creators is hardly incompatible with Net Neutrality. In fact, Net Neutrality is critical to the emergence of legal, licensed services as an alternative to piracy.

Kenneth Corbin
Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) isn't wasting any time staking out his position on one of the most controversial policy issues affecting the tech industry. Speaking at the Future of Music Coalition's policy summit, Franken gave an impassioned talk in praise of Net Neutrality, which he called a "21st century reiteration of one of our most important constitutional rights."

Genachowski Pitches Net Neutrality At Music Summit

Full article: Broadcasting & Cable
John Eggerton
FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski made a pitch for Network Neutrality at a Future of Music Coalition policy summit. He said artists, songwriters and independent music producers "know better than most" why it is necessary to have "fair rules of the road."

Genachowski Chats with Musicians

Full article: Radio Business Report
FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski recently addressed the Policy Summit of the Future of Music Coalition. The organization has long been at odds with broadcasters over a number of issues. But not to worry -- Genachoswki was entirely focused on the FCC's efforts to preserve a free and open Internet -- a chief policy goal of FMC -- via Network Neutrality.

Payola's Dead, So Why Does Radio Remain a Wasteland?

Nate Anderson
When major radio stations and music labels agreed to stop payola (again) a few years back, the stations promised to change their ways and play more indie music. So how's that working out? According to a new report, there's been absolutely no change.
