Ever Feel Like Cell Carriers and ISPs Don't Like You?

In almost every industry, companies find reason to dislike their customer base. And although it's no different in the technology space, it's as if cell phone carriers and ISPs aren't afraid of hiding it. After all, if these companies really liked us, wouldn't they realize that privacy is a major concern and we don't like being bogged down by onerous contracts?

Apparently not.

Scrutiny of Phone Fees May Broaden to TV, Internet

A planned federal hearing on penalties that cellphone users pay for canceling their contracts early may be expanded to include a discussion on similar fees for ending cable and Internet services ahead of schedule, the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission said in an interview yesterday.

Fine Print on ISP Contract Can Be Amusing, But Leave Few Rights

What's scary, funny and boring at the same time? It could be a bad horror movie. Or it could be the fine print on your Internet service provider's contract. Those documents you agree to -- usually without reading -- ostensibly allow your ISP to watch how you use the Internet, read your e-mail or keep you from visiting sites it deems inappropriate.
