AT&T Forgets They Began the Network Neutrality Debate

Full article: Broadband Reports
Karl Bode
It should be remembered that it was AT&T's vocalized desire to act as a bridge troll that began the Net Neutrality debate, and the original goal of Net Neutrality rules was to prevent AT&T from abusing its duopoly/monopoly power to extort passers by. So, suggesting that AT&T could abuse their market position using paid prioritization certainly isn't conspiracy material. It's not even controversial.

Verizon: Please, Only We Can Lie About Network Neutrality

Full article: Broadband Reports
Karl Bode
Google and Verizon's defense of their proposal has been one distortion after another, the companies insisting the weak-kneed framework is solely about empowering the consumer. Here's a real fact: Verizon wants what any massive, government-pampered duopolist wants: more strings-free taxpayer money, a lazy regulatory body with no consumer protection authority whatsoever, government protection from competition, and the ability to engage in any business practices they like, no matter how unethical or anti-competitive.

Bryan Mercer
Conservative pundits would like to tell us that FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski's proposal to reclassify broadband transport services to Title II is a government take over of the Internet. They are wrong.

Craig Aaron
One of the most pervasive myths being peddled by Net Neutrality opponents is the idea that protecting the free and open Internet will somehow hinder investment in the telecommunications sector. But that's just not true, and a new report has the data to prove it.

The Internet Is a Feminist Issue

Mary Alice Crim
The Internet is the only open platform where women can express their own views and post their own material without a gatekeeper. This ability to self-publish turns the mainstream media model, with its scarcity of women media owners and media makers, on its head.

Congress Should Preserve Net Neutrality

The deeper the Internet becomes ingrained in our daily lives, the more the murkiness about Net Neutrality policy is going to cost us. 2009 is the year for Congress to take care of this vital piece of unfinished business and make Net Neutrality the law.
