Freelance Journalists Suffering in Second Wave of News Media Collapse

Full article: California Progress Report
Ruth Teichroeb
In March, Hearst closed the 146-year-old Seattle Post-Intelligencer newspaper. Since the staff stopped filing stories and began filing for unemployment, only 15 percent have found fulltime paid work in journalism. What is happening with the rest of the 140 workers?

Adam Reilly
Nowadays, though, dreaming of being a foreign correspondent is a bit like wanting to be a cowboy — or maybe a Betamax repairman. But in Boston, an ambitious push is underway to create a new model for overseas reporting.
