Full article: Committee to Protect Journalists
Six independent journalists were convicted of sedition in Gambia. The six journalists, working for two private newspapers -- the Point and Foroyaa -- had republished a press union statement criticizing President Yahya Jammeh's comments regarding the unsolved 2004 murder of Point editor Deyda Hydara.

After the Senate Fight: What's Next for The Uptake?

Full article: MinnPost.com
David Brauer
The Uptake, an independent news organization based in St. Paul, Minn., has reaped tons of good publicity -- and funding -- for it's coverage of the 2008 elections. But it turns out covering an election's aftermath isn't quite as remunerative as covering the election itself, and The Uptake is looking for new revenue streams to maintain its staff and citizen journalist trainings.
