And if you venture a few blocks from the convention to take a peek under the Congress Avenue Bridge, you'll see another large gathering: the world's largest population of urban bats — 1.5 million of ’em.

FCC National Broadband Plan Field Hearing

In an effort to solicit input from the public in the development of a National Broadband Plan the Commission will host the first of several field hearings on September 21, 2009, in Austin, Texas. FCC Commissioner Meredith Atwell Baker will represent the Commission at the initial field hearing. Two panels will explore the challenges of broadband deployment in Texas, including spectrum access,infrastructure, and rural issues.
