Aurora Resident Says Comcast Equipment Has Bugs -- Literally

Full article: Beacon-News
Matt Brennan
An Aurora, Ill., resident recently acquired his cable television service through Comcast. After the installer left his home, cockroaches began crawling out of the cable box in his parents' room, Munoz said. He said it looked like the equipment came from a different user, and was not new. This incident came shortly after Comcast employees filed a class action suit against Comcast for forcing them to install inadequate, bug-infested equipment at homes on Chicago's South Side.

Could Bill O'Reilly Drag Fox News into the Hacking Probe?

Full article: Forbes
Jeff Bercovici
Rupert Murdoch is working hard to contain the fallout from the hacking scandal that has engulfed his U.K. newspapers. How unfortunate for Bill O'Reilly, then, that new accusations against him involve exactly those things. The top-rated Fox News host may be the prime mover behind a highly irregular police investigation in his Long Island hometown.

Mike Masnick
In the continuing saga of Righthaven, the firm is trying to hold off on paying the legal fees ordered by the court in one of the many cases so far. The defendant, Michael Leon, and his lawyers from the Randazza Group have filed a motion that rips into Righthaven, claiming that the company is looking to avoid paying.

OMG Comcast! Pick on Someone Your Own Size

Craig Aaron and Malkia Cyril
The Real Grrls brave and inspiring response to Comcast's bullying is remarkable. We can't think of a better way to show our support and thanks to the Reel Grrls than making sure that summer camp still happens. We need to stand up to Comcast's censors -- and show these young media makers we've got their backs.

Watch What You Tweet: Comcast and Free Speech

Full article: SavetheNews.org
Josh Stearns
Last week, Comcast highlighted how broken our policymaking is when it hired a sitting FCC Commissioner to become one of its chief lobbyists, just months after she rubber-stamped their merger with NBC-Universal. This week, Comcast threatened to cut funding to a Seattle-based youth media nonprofit after the organization tweeted about Comcast's new hire. This event shines a spotlight on Comcast's ongoing disregard for free speech and highlights just how far Comcast is willing to go to shut down its critics.

Mat Honan
Comcast got caught out acting the bully and trying to silence a small-time critic. It's yet another reason to worry how the newly merged entity might abuse its power.

Cecilia Kang
Careful what you tweet, especially if you rely on Comcast. That's the message received by the Seattle-based nonprofit Reel Grrls, who was told it had lost $18,000 in funding for a teen summer film camp after it sent a tweet about FCC Commissioner Meredith Attwell Baker's jump to the cable and media giant.
