Full article: Triangle Business Journal
Sougata Mukherjee
Kevin Martin, the former head of the FCC , says he wouldn't be surprised if media companies take a recent appellate court decision to the U.S. Supreme Court. The appeals court restored a long-standing ban of media companies owning both a newspaper and a television station in the same market.

Laissez-Faire Republican Is Battling the Comcast-NBC Deal

Full article: Los Angeles Times
Joe Flint
The fact that a laissez-faire Republican and former chairman of the FCC would be at the forefront of the efforts to derail -- or at least radically alter -- the Comcast-NBC Universal deal is surprising. It's nonetheless the role Kevin Martin has forged for himself, one that has him acting more like an apostate than an apostle of the media establishment.

Former FCC boss Kevin Martin has broken his silence as the newly reformed FCC gets ready to unveil their national broadband plan. He's also apparently busily engaging in some revisionist history, saying that he was a staunch supporter of consumer rights and of "open access" broadband policies during his tenure.

Nancy Gohring
Laying more fiber is one way to make more efficient use of wireless spectrum, former FCC Chairman Kevin Martin said. "A significant amount of mobile broadband activity actually occurs indoors," Martin said. "That should be gotten off-Net quicker."

As FCC Chair Martin Resigns, He Leaves Controversial Legacy

Full article: The Center for Public Integrity
John Dunbar
Outgoing FCC Chairman Kevin Martin used his considerable power to push consumer-friendly policies like "a la carte" pricing. He also pried open wireless networks, protected Internet users from unequal treatment by service providers, and paved the way for a new generation of wireless devices. But Martin may be most remembered for his controversial bedside manner.
