Google to Build a Test 1 Gbps Network in Stanford

Full article: GigaOM
Om Malik
Google still hasn’t made a decision on which city (or communities) it would pick to build its one-gigabit-per-second broadband network (announced earlier this year), but the company is moving forward and setting up an experimental network on the Stanford University Campus.

Geeks Rule: Why Media Ownership Still Matters

Full article: Huffington Post
Tracy Rosenberg
On May 21, the FCC traveling road show will come to Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif., for the third of three field workshops on media ownership. But will the agency hear from the 50 percent of the population who report television is their main source of news and information? Probably not, because the workshops aren't announced on TV news.

Panel: Newspapers Might Be Dying, but Do What You Love Anyway

Full article: BayNewser.com
A Stanford University panel on "News in the 21st Century: Who Reads Print Anymore?" was aimed at entreprenuers and covered territory painfully familiar to journalists (newspapers are dying, we don't know what the answer is, etc.). But the panelists' parting advice was worth noting: Take our advice as experts, throw it out, and just do what you love.
