U.S. Still Hasn't Gotten Its Act Together on Broadband Deployment

Matthew Lasar
The FCC is sticking to its guns when it comes to the state of high speed Internet deployment in the United States. Despite last year's protests from the cable industry, the agency's newest broadband report reiterates the conclusion of its previous report. As many as 26 million Americans dwell in cities, towns and counties in which there is no broadband capable of delivering video, graphics, data and high quality voice services at affordable prices.

Sara Jerome
The top House Republican on telecom issues, Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.), was incredulous about a FCC report that found broadband is not being deployed in a speedy manner.

Matthew Lasar
A new report from the FCC about broadband access is sure to ruffle feathers. In fact, it already has. Between 14 million and 24 million Americans still lack access to high speed Internet, "and the immediate prospects for deployment to them are bleak."
