David Oxenford
The FCC issued fines to Class A TV stations which seem to have forgotten the requirements for such stations. The cases remind these stations that they must still meet all requirements for full power stations, as the FCC fined Class A stations for main studio, public file and children's television violations.

Broadcast Nonprofit Faces Tower Eviction

Full article: Television Broadcast
Selective TV is a local nonprofit low-power TV station formed 30 years ago to provide multiple free channels over the air to the central Minnesota town of Alexandria. The community would otherwise have only one over-the-air station. But the rent on their tower increased from $1,400 a year to $70,000, and they may have to shut down.

John Eggerton
While most FCC Commissioners were not ready to vote on a notice of proposed rulemaking to grant some low-power stations must-carry status on cable, at least one former Democratic presidential candidate was.

FCC Chairman Kevin Martin expressed frustration that the other four commissioners rejected his plan to make rules that could have provided Class A TV stations a clear path to full-power status, and suggested that pressure from broadcasters and cable companies had changed the view of some commissioners.

John Eggerton
A coalition of low-power TV stations said they had signatures from more than 150 station representatives calling for the FCC to start the process of giving several hundred low-power stations a path to full-power status, which would secure them carriage on cable systems.
