AT&T has just done another about-face. Earlier the phone giant said that it "does not manage or approve applications" for the iPhone App Store. But their response to an FCC inquiry indicates otherwise: AT&T acknowledged that it plays a role in authorizing VoIP applications.

According to a source with AT&T, the company will eventually allow tethering support for the iPhone for $55 a month -- but there is no word on how much bandwidth that price will get customers. AT&T's existing "unlimited" data plan for the iPhone only gets you 5GBs of data a month.
