AT&T's About-Face

Full article: Free Press
Timothy Karr
AT&T has just done another about-face. Earlier the phone giant said that it "does not manage or approve applications" for the iPhone App Store. But their response to an FCC inquiry indicates otherwise: AT&T acknowledged that it plays a role in authorizing VoIP applications.

AT&T's iPhone Tethering Plan Will Cost $55

Full article: Geek.com
John Brownlee
According to a source with AT&T, the company will eventually allow tethering support for the iPhone for $55 a month -- but there is no word on how much bandwidth that price will get customers. AT&T's existing "unlimited" data plan for the iPhone only gets you 5GBs of data a month.

MLB iPhone App to Live-Stream Games over 3G; Still No Sling

Full article: GigaOM
Jordan Golson
A Major League Baseball iPhone app that streams baseball games live over Wi-Fi and AT&T's 3G network is raising hackles among Net Neutrality advocates. That's because AT&T blocks Sling's video-streaming app from working in the same way.

Roy Mark
With wireless carriers continuing to offer exclusive cell phone deals such as AT&T's arrangement with Apple's iPhone, consumer and grassroots organizations and some members of Congress are ratcheting up the pressure on wireless carriers to open up their networks to any legal device or service.

Is AT&T Giving Unfair Video Rights to MLB.com?

Full article: Free Press
AT&T has acknowledged that open Internet principles should apply to wireless and that consumers expect unfettered mobile access. So why is AT&T deciding what online video its iPhone customers can watch and what they can't?
