CBS Plans to Keep Its Spectrum

Full article: Broadcasting & Cable
Sue Wilson
CBS has taken a slightly less adversarial tone toward the FCC's spectrum reclamation plan than the National Association of Broadcasters, group owners representing hundreds of TV stations, and state broadcast associations. And since it says it is not going to be selling out its spectrum, or planning to share it with other stations, CBS put an emphasis on the FCC making sure those left behind are still in control of their own destiny.

Paul Bond
Netflix and CBS aren't disclosing terms of the deal they recently announced, but an analyst said it's worth $200 million. CBS will get that amount over two years for nonexclusive rights to stream such shows as the "Twilight Zone", "Star Trek", "Family Ties", "Twin Peaks", "Cheers" and "Frasier".

Sean Hollister
You may be able to watch The Office on your Google TV, but perhaps not on demand -- ABC, CBS and NBC are barring Sony and Logitech's web-infused TVs and set-top-boxes from accessing full episodes of streaming video content.

CBS Is a Network on a Roll

Bill Carter
At CBS, a network that unashamedly embraces the supposedly dying notion of being a broadcaster, something close to serenity has settled in. So far, CBS has managed to avoid, on every night, across every hour of prime time, the kind of failure that has visited all of its main competitors.

Brian Stelter
In a deal that represents hundreds of millions of dollars in new revenue for CBS, the network said that it had secured subscriber fees for its local stations from Comcast for the next 10 years. The unusually long-term agreement also lays the groundwork for Comcast subscribers to watch CBS content online.
