Joe Aimonetti
Holiday earnings reports are being posted, and Verizon's indicates that more than half of its smartphone sales were iPhones. This resulted in a revenue surge for its wireless division, but because of heavy subsidies, an overall decline in profits.

Verizon, Comcast Send Marketing Deals to FCC in Airwaves Review

Full article: Bloomberg News
Todd Shields
Verizon Wireless and cable companies led by Comcast filed agreements with the U.S. government to sell each other's services, and said the deals shouldn't be part of a regulatory review of their $3.6 billion airwaves sale. The marketing arrangements announced alongside the airwaves sale last month don’t require approval by the FCC, the companies said in a filing posted on the FCC website.

Verizon Wireless, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox and Bright House Networks announced that they would provide the FCC with copies of the companies' joint marketing agreements to resell each other’s services. The joint marketing arrangements will now be scrutinized as part of the FCC's proceeding examining Verizon's companion deals to buy sizable chunks of wireless broadband spectrum from these same cable companies. These anti-competitive pacts to divide up the broadband market were announced last month.
