Eyes Open for the Next Tests of Network Neutrality

When I read of the recent action by the FCC against Comcast, I see another step forward in this road of the legal grasping towards some definition of Network Neutrality. We need vigilance though, as it has mostly asked questions and is still in a motion of allowing the market to define it for them.

Announcement Flier for Public Hearing on the Future of the Internet at Stanford

Spread the word about the FCC's public hearing at Standford University with this flier announcing the event. Last time around in Boston, Comcast packed the room with paid seat holders, and blocked the public from participating in this important conversation. Make sure the public's voice is heard loud and clear this time around.

Peer-to-Peer Networks Go Legit

The technology best known for pirating movies, music and software online is increasingly being adopted by businesses as a cheap way to get video content to customers.

A number of startups are embracing so-called peer-to-peer technology and have convinced some big-name media companies to use them to deliver legal content.

Courting Industry in the Net Neutrality Debate

If Internet neutrality is ever going to be the law of the land, businesses are going to have to join the movement, insisted two of the more outspoken advocates of a national broadband policy to bar Internet service providers (ISPs) from blocking or degrading certain network traffic.

Network Neutrality Is for On-Line Marketers Too

If Internet access providers, such as telephone and cable companies, begin preferring certain web sites or content types over others, it will be harder for the marketing community to determine whether observed on-line behavior is due to customer choice or provider choice.

Movie Spies Are Fun; Movies' Spying on the Internet Is Not

Hollywood for years has had a fascination with spies. Some are action spies, like the various incarnations of Bond, James Bond, or cerebral spies like Alec Guinness' masterfully subtle George Smiley.
