At the hearing, before the House Committee on the Judiciary, the CEOs of AT&T and T-Mobile's parent Deutsche Telekom, defended the proposed merger of the two companies, arguing that the deal is "all about consumers." But a consumer advocate and an antitrust professor on the panel warned that the deal would create a duopoly that would lead to higher prices and less innovation.
