Arizona State University Blocks All Access to Change.org for All of It's Students

Full article: TheDailyShit.com
Eric Haywood
Last Week, a group of ASU students started the petition entitled "Arizona State University: Reduce the Costs of Education for Arizona State University Students" at the Change.org petition site. This petition requested signatures to support the reduction in the cost of education for ASU students. Arizona State University has now blocked all access to Change.org for all of it's over 50,000 students and over 5,000 faculty and employees.

ASU Blocks Petition Website on Campus Network

Full article: State Press
Kharli Mandeville
A Tumblr blog calling for Arizona State University to unblock the petition website Change.org began circulating the Internet, causing many students to become concerned that their First Amendment rights had been violated. ASU removed access to the site through any University server or email network. The petition was asking for signatures to support lowering the cost of tuition at ASU.

The Sinister Sons of SOPA

Full article: Wire
Lore Sjoberg
SOPA and PIPA may sound like adorable gnomes from a Finnish children's program in which puppets teach Scandinavian children the virtues of taciturnity, taxation and hot-tubbing, but they're actually even more sinister than that. They are American legislation that, if enacted, would give giant media corporations the ability to effectively erase any website they wanted for no real reason. I'd love to exaggerate that for comic effect, but no, that's pretty much the deal.
