Producers, Writers Take on FCC Indecency Regime

Some big-time Hollywood producers and writers said the Federal Communications Commission's content-chilling regime needs to be reined in for the sake of viewers, content creators and the First Amendment, but reining in consolidated media rather than content might be the solution to the FCC's "understandable" concern about some objectionable TV content.

Creative Voices asked the Second Circuit to do what it did last year in Fox v. FCC: reverse yet another arbitrary and capricious FCC indecency decision that puts creative, challenging, controversial, non-homogenized broadcast television programming at risk.

If This Is Family-Friendly, What Would They Think Is Outrageous?

The media watchdog group Parents Television Council publicly commended NBC last month when the network announced plans to make the 8 p.m. hour a time for family-friendly viewing. Days later, NBC aired an episode of "30 Rock" in that time slot that didn't strike the PTC as fitting the family-friendly category.
