Josh Levy
It's true that with more innovations like Roku's addition of Al-Jazeera English, the future of online video could be bright. But if big cable succeeds in squashing competition and stifling innovation, it could also get really, really dark.

Roku Adds First Linear Feed Cable Channel

Full article: CNet
Don Reisinger
Roku has inked a deal with WealthTV to bring a linear feed of the television network's programming to its set-top boxes. Unlike the other channels on the company's platform that provide on-demand access to programming, WealthTV's offering, which costs $2.99 per month, will act as a television channel, letting users drop in to see what's on.

Like Netflix, Roku Underestimates Per-Byte Broadband Threat

Full article: Broadband Reports
Karl Bode
Netflix CEO Reed Hastings is reportedly unconcerned by the looming threat of low broadband usage caps and high per gigabyte overages. Like Hastings, Roku CEO Anthony Wood also seems to be taking the cap and meter threat rather lightly. It's not really clear what broadband market Hastings and Wood are looking at.

Apple Video Play May Hurt Boxee, Roku

Steve Donohue
While cable operators likely won't face an immediate threat from the subscription service Apple is purportedly pitching to major content suppliers, the offering may instead put the hurt on over-the-top video service providers like Boxee and Roku.

Chat with Roku on Hurdles to Online Video Market

Cecilia Kang
Getting videos and other content on Roku's box has been slow in the making. With new online strategies called TV Everywhere about to launch, analysts say Comcast, Time Warner and satellite operators will keep TV shows and movies closely held by tying that content to cable subscription models.

Zeugma, Roku Team on Enhanced Net Video

Carol Wilson
Zeugma’s SmartVideo application identifies specific video traffic and gives that traffic its own guaranteed bandwidth. That means broadband service providers can deliver movies from Netflix or from Roku digital video players with a guaranteed quality of service, said Andrew Harries, CEO of Zeugma.
