Is Sprint Stopping Aid from Reaching Haiti?

Full article: SavetheInternet.com
Joshua Levy
In the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti, Catholic Relief Services saw an opportunity to raise money by using a "text to call" application. But Sprint Nextel got in the way, and three days after Catholic Relief Services launched its application, the carrier demanded that it be shut down. The FCC should step in and investigate Sprint's actions.

Catholic Charity and Sprint Tangle Over Texting

Full article: New York Times
John Schwartz
The Catholic Relief Services and Sprint-Nextel donation via text message tangle underscores a problem that public interest groups asked the FCC to address more than two years ago: the hazy legal status of text messages, which are controlled by telephone companies without any real government oversight.
