Oscar will have plenty to be grouchy about if bills in Congress become law. Three bills are circulating that would cut or even entirely eliminate federal funding for public broadcasting. And what is it about a 78-year old widow that Fox News commentator Glenn Beck finds so terrifying?

Glynnis MacNicol
In a statement about George Soros' $1 million donation to Media Matters for America, the organization's found, David Brock, said, "We are especially pleased that in this moment of hidden right-wing billionaire money corrupting our democracy, Mr. Soros, upon deciding to support our efforts, quickly and transparently has made that support public."

Michael D. Shear
Media Matters, the liberal activist group that wages a rhetorical war against Fox News Channel and others in the conservative press, will announce the receipt of a $1 million donation from the philanthropist George Soros. Despite claims to the contrary, Soros has not been a funder for Media Matters in the past. He hopes the money will be used "in an effort to more widely publicize the challenge Fox News poses to civil and informed discourse in our democracy."

White Males Rule Sunday News Shows

Joe Garofoli
David Gregory's promotion to host of NBC's "Meet the Press" ensures that all the Sunday news shows will continue to be hosted by white men. Media Matters for America further reports that roughly 80 percent of newsmakers and pundits who have appeared on the shows over the past eight years also have been white men.

Women, Minorities, Autistic Children: Conservative Radio's Vitriol Not Reserved for Obama

Conservative radio shock jocks have participated in an echo chamber of smears and falsehoods about candidate and now President-elect Barack Obama. And their vitriol spread to immigrants, female politicians (and women in general), the LGBT community, the poor and homeless, minorities, progressives, unions, college students, and even autistic children.
