Moyers Ends Effort to Bring Weekly Series to PBS

Full article: New York Times
Elizabeth Jensen
Bill Moyers said he won't be returning to PBS with a weekly series after all, because PBS can't find a time slot for a new show. In an e-mailed statement, Mr. Moyers said, "It was tempting to think once again of creating a forum for voices, viewpoints, and ideas rarely heard in mainstream television, and my colleagues and I were excited about the prospect."

Brian Stelter
Bill Moyers has signed off from PBS. The end of Bill Moyers Journal is a milestone both for public broadcasting and for Moyers, whose explorations of corporate power versus people power were unlike anything else on television.

The Real Dean of American Journalism Is Retiring

Daniel De Groot
To the extent NPR and PBS are cowed by movement conservatives, or simply too weak to regularly confront the big lies has a lot to do with having to beg for money all the time, and having no assurance that the next budget crisis won't see them cut to zero. So why are NPR and PBS weak? They're poor.

According to FCC Commissioner Michael Copps, Net Neutrality won't be achieved "without a fight." Copps discussed open Internet with Bill Moyers in an interview for "Bill Moyers Journal" that's set to air April 23. Copps argues that because of the media shift online, it is in the public interest to regulate the administration of Internet service.

Neal Gabler
Journalist Bill Moyers, who will be leaving his award-winning weekly PBS series, has always sought the most interesting thinkers, people who would never otherwise be on television, and then discussed their ideas in search of timeless truths. While everyone else in the media has been exploring topography, Moyers has been exploring geology.
