CNN Wanted Lou Out

MIchael Shain
CNN gave Lou Dobbs an $8 million severance package to leave. CNN and Dobbs had been publicly feuding over the kind of reporting Dobbs was doing on his show -- especially stories about illegal immigration and the anti-Obama "birther" movement. But it was not clear until now that CNN was willing to pay Dobbs so much money to leave.

A new paper shows how prioritizing Internet traffic works against Internet users and undermines the overall health of the Internet. Lou Dobbs resigns as CNN anchor. And two broadband stimulus windows become one, leaving applicants with only one more chance to apply for funding.

Lou Dobbs to Quit CNN

Full article: New York Times
Brian Stelter and Bill Carter
Lou Dobbs, the longtime CNN anchor whose anti-immigration views have made him a TV lightning rod, said that he is leaving the cable news channel effective immediately. Recently, Dobbs' views on immigration provoked a protest by Hispanic groups. Members of the groups complained that CNN was allowing Dobbs "to spread lies and misinformation each night."

A Preview Of CNN's Latino In America: Disappointing

Full article: Houston News
Liana Lopez
CNN unveils its take on the Latino experience with the widely publicized debut of Latino in America. If CNN hopes to win over more Latinos, they will have to do better. Do they expect Latinos to tune in now after Lou Dobbs gets more than 250 hours to denigrate them? More likely, Latinos will watch the series just to see how poorly Latinos are portrayed.

CNN Most Trusted Name in News? Not for Latinos

Full article: StopBigMedia.com
Joe Torres
If CNN really wants to be "the most trusted name in news," it has to stop airing hate speech against the Latino community every night. By spreading misinformation and bogus claims in vitriolic attacks against the community, Lou Dobbs is helping to create an increasingly intolerant and dangerous anti-immigrant environment.

CNN's Ramping It's 'Latino in America,' But It's Getting Ruined by Lou Dobbs

Full article: New York Daily News
Albor Ruiz
In a few days CNN will launch its ambitious "Latino in America" series. The heavily promoted four-hour program will air on Oct. 21 and 22. Ironically, the series comes at a time when CNN has a huge trust problem with Latinos -- and its name is Lou Dobbs. Dobbs, some say, has thrown ethics overboard and has made a career out of vilifying immigrants.
