Liberty Media Chairman John Malone expressed his disapproval of the potential deal that would make NBC Universal a joint venture between Comcast and General Electric. Malone said that the deal would give Comcast too much market power and that competitors would then begin to explore similar acquisitions or partnerships to "protect themselves."
