Seattle-based RealNetworks Inc. lost a key ruling in a case about whether it can sell a DVD-copying technology called RealDVD. The suit was brought against RealNetworks by Hollywood studios, which argued that the technology allowed consumers to violate copyrights on movies and TV shows.
