Cable and telephone companies want to continue serving their shareholders and padding their short-term gains. These ISPs pay lobbyists and astroturf organizations millions of dollars to sway lawmakers and alter public opinion. And who is paying for the companies to keep shortchanging consumers? The consumers themselves who have little choice in this duopoly market.
