Building a Media Reform Movement

Free Press is building a movement for better media in the United States.

We’re working to create media that reflect our country’s diversity and serve the public interest. We want the American people -- not just big corporations and their high-priced lobbyists -- to have a say in crafting the policies that shape the media system.

For too long, media policy has been made behind closed doors in the public’s name but without our involvement or consent. The result is a bankrupt system that benefits giant corporations at the expense of everyday citizens and our need for diverse sources of news, information and viewpoints.

If we want better media, we need better media policies. That means we need you!

Hundreds of thousands of citizens have already joined the movement for better media. Together, we can produce change through a combination of grassroots organizing, innovative online strategy and well-timed action.

So join us. Speak out everywhere for diverse and democratic media: Talk about it; write about it; blog about it.

It’s up to all of us to demand better media. Our democracy depends on it.
