Gannett Swings to Second-Quarter Profit

Gannett Co. beat expectations by reporting a second-quarter profit of $70.5 million, or 30 cents a share. The nation's largest newspaper publisher said ad revenue at its U.S. papers fell 27.2 percent in the quarter, driven by continuing big drops in all categories, but especially in classified.
