The Stupidity of ‘Smart’ Phones

Apple’s iPhone looks good enough to eat. I’ve yet to take a bite of this “smart” phone, but know that once I do, there will be no going back; I’ll be reaching for it before I get out of bed and updating my Facebook status from yoga class. (“I think I just found my chi. Wait—it was my phone on vibrate.”)
The temptation to join the growing legions of iPhone admirers is strong. So what’s stopping me from signing up?
Purchasing an iPhone means I have to become an AT&T subscriber. The company has an exclusive deal with Apple to provide wireless service to iPhoners—meaning I’m backed into a corner. If I don’t like AT&T, or it’s not available in my area, I’m facing a digital impasse: no service, no phone.

I'm avoiding it like the plague. I already spend 18 hours a day in front of the computer. Am I ready to give away the other 6? (subtract one for sleeping I guess)
