FCC Pick Backs Broadband Stimulus, Opposes Fairness Doctrine

Julius Genachowski, the man nominated to head the FCC, said he favors using $7 billion of stimulus money to extend broadband Internet service to consumers who lack access now, a view backed by big telecom and cable companies. Genachowski also told a Senate committee he doesn't support reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine.
