Broadband deployment has been equated with the creation of the highway system. The connection could become more than metaphorical. Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.) has introduced the Broadband Conduit Deployment Act, which would require new federal highway projects to include broadband conduits for fiber optic communications.
