The Associated Press' Real Enemies Are Its Customers

The Associated Press contends that Web sites that don't pay for its articles and photos are pirates depriving its members of revenue. That view may well hurt newsgathering and writing as much as help it in the long run. But the real problem is that the AP's view doesn't take into account what those accused of being news pirates are stealing.
