Cable Companies Plan to Invest in Internet, Not Rely on Grants

Cable insiders met to tout how their industry will contribute to a completely wired country, but executives said in interviews that they aren't counting on government money to accomplish that goal. Cable companies invested $14 billion last year in network facilities, and are likely to invest another $14 billion this year.
