What is our Offensive Position?

In the Media Consolidation panel discussion period, Linda Foley (Newspaper Guild) asked panelists "we've operated with a defensive strategy for so long, what is our offensive strategy as we move forward?"

Andy Schwartzman of MAP summed up well:

The FCC can reduce broadcast renewal terms, demand local content and community access on TV and radio stations, push for minority employment opportunities and minority ownership.

Congress can legislate net neutrality, require access for independent programmers so they can diversify broadcast and cable programming and open devices for the wireless sphere.

Great post! I'm interested in hearing what others think are good offensive strategies to promote better media.
