Why I'm Coming to the Nat'l Conf for Media Reform

By Garlin Gilchrist II

My name is Garlin Gilchrist II, and just like you, I am deeply

concerned about the future of our media.

That's why I'm attending the 2008 National Conference for Media

Reform in Minneapolis.
There are so many issues that the corporate media

won't cover honestly and in depth.

Now more than ever, we need more independent and diverse voices,

better election coverage, more local radio, and an equal, open Internet for

everyone.

I went to last year's conference in Memphis, and it gave me tools

I could use to change the system. This conference is the place to be, and

there are only five days left to register online.

Please join me in

Minneapolis for the

2008 National Conference for Media Reform
[1]

My favorite part of NCMR is getting to see thousands of

individuals take a stand for better media. I have met people from Hawaii to

Vermont, Alabama to my home state of Washington, and the relationships that

began at last year’s conference have grown into strong coalitions that have

reinvigorated the media reform movement and introduced millions to media reform

in the past year alone.

The excellent keynote speakers and practical workshops always give

me new ideas, connect me with new people, and motivate me to tackle the media

issues in my area and around the country.

This year's incredible speakers include Bill Moyers, Amy

Goodman
, Dan Rather, Naomi Klein, Juan Gonzalez, Van

Jones
, Arianna Huffington, and many more. There are more than 60 sessions [2],

250

presenters
[3], exciting new films, musical performances, and, most importantly,

thousands of the most incredible media reformers you'll ever meet!

I've seen how when we come together, we can make a difference.

NCMR gives us the opportunity to channel our passions, energy and resolve to

change our media system.

I look forward to seeing you in Minneapolis.
