Some more suppressed news from Joe's Union Review
Posted on April 7.2008 by Anonymous
Most people aren't even aware that 35,000 workers are laid off because of the American Axle Strike, theres a lot more stuff you may not know, my job is bringing it to the public with some semblance of journalistic integrity
American Axle Strike
The Main Stream has a way of hiding information, while there is a ton of fear mongering going on, one of the main stories about the struggle of a group of United Auto Workers working at AAM whose CEO has given them a final contract offer, that reduces their pay to about half, over a month ago, is hardly mentioned if at all. The ripple effect is that most workers union and otherwise that are involved in the making of GM vehicles are currently laid off due to this strike. Although less than 4,000 are AAM workers, the affected GM workers total 35,000. MSM likes the numbers so they fail to mention any of this in their "lowest employment numbers since Katrina" articles. Also not mentioned is the 1,500 Hersheys workers who have recently lost their jobs due to a new plant opening in Mexico. Oh, and Bear Stearns did employee quite a few people.Wheres this added into a story?
Did I mention that the CEO Dick Dauch is threatening to move out of the country if his demands aren't met, that brings us to the reasoning that is possible, Free Trade...
Colombia Free Trade Agreement
Another largely overlooked story is the Bush Administration pushing the Colombian Free Trade Agreement, knowing fully well that Colombia is the most dangerous place on Earth to be a unionist. I have even had the US Chamber of Commerce, an independent group for big business, point out their "facts" about the violence in Colombia, stating such horrific tidbits as "We believe that free trade IS fair trade and it is time to level the playing field for American workers.". Hillary's campaign strategist was just caught lobbying for this agreement. Nice head Hillary, making the working man in the United States beg from the bottom was started under the Clinton Administration, surrounding yourself with turdballs that are supporters of the Colombian FTA isn't a real vote getter.
Los Angeles unions to march "From Hollywood to The Docks"
On April 15th to the 17th, actors, janitors, longshore workers, and many other workers along with members of the community will march 28 miles from Hollywood to the docks of San Pedro. These individuals will symbolize over 350,000 workers who, this year, will be fighting to stay in the middle class or move themselves out of poverty.
Kansas new law encouraging illegal immigrant employment and punishing unions who try to help them
Can you say "employers like a slave class"? Obviously the 19 Republicans who passed this law wouldn't say it aloud.
Kansas, a state in this United States, has passed a bill through it's Senate that will exclude punishment for the employers of undocumented workers, but would fine a union who lets the worker into it's ranks. You got that? They do not blame the employers, they want to stop anyone from helping the workers.
Wal-Mart drops suit against handicapped former employer
From USA Today (4/01/08):
Wal-Mart
Stores Inc. is dropping a controversial effort to collect over $400,000
in health care reimbursement from a former employee who is confined to
a southeast Missouri nursing home since she suffered brain damage in a
traffic accident.
The world's largest retailer said Tuesday in a
letter to the family of Deborah Shank it will not seek to collect money
the Shanks won in an injury lawsuit against a trucking company for the
accident.
H1B Visa abuse
From the green building in which I recently left, where the entire environmental controls will be monitored from the desk of another country, to the tech support jobs that Dell led the way into the Indian nation, the brighter of our countrymen, the Techie geeks, are under attack. Not just from the threat of offshoring, but by the threat of misuse of H1B Visa's by unscrupulous employers on our own shores. It is called the PERM process and the following video made by Immigration attorneys from Cohen & Grigsby explains just how to disqualify qualified US Workers in favor of foreign workers, who by the way must keep their job at all costs or be deported. Sounds like a new form of slavery
The original story got 2 responses that were stories in their own rights:
