NonStop Radio: Following Mead's Lead

NonStop Radio: Following Mead's Lead

Margaret Mead, one of the founding mothers of the science of Anthropology, noticed a common theme when comparing cultures from around the world: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

Before the official foundation of NonStop Radio, I had seen this principle in action a number of times.

It was evident when I helped people outside of Phoenix be aware that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens were trying to restore Progressive Talk to that market when it had been flipped. They put Progressive Talk back on the air, and 1480 KPHX is now the flagship of Nova M Radio.

It was evident when my home market of Madison found itself about to lose The Mic 92.1, the only Progressive Talk station in town. Helping Valerie Walasek sound the clarion call, I was proud to be a part of the small group of thoughtful committed citizens who did what had to be done to keep The Mic broadcasting.

Since the foundation of NonStop Radio, I've been truly honored to help small groups of thoughtful committed citizens around the country fight to secure the future of Progressive Talk in their home markets. Recently, Columbus proved once again that such a group can move mountains: Ohio Majority Radio, co-founded between NSR and Columbus activists, made connections locally and pushed until, on Monday December 3rd, they brought Progressive Talk back to the State of Ohio.

And now, I ask you to become a part of one more small group of thoughtful, committed citizens. Throughout this inaugural year of NonStop Radio's tireless advocacy, money was spent and bills accrued to help in the nationwide fight to Secure the Future of Progressive Talk. Thanks to generous donors, we are now only $2900 short coming up on the end of the year. We need you to be a part of a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens who donate what you can to help see NonStop Radio ring in the New Year in the black.

A note on tax-deduction:

Donations to NonStop Radio are NOT tax-deductible. This is on purpose:

Firstly, tax-exempt organizations are supposed to be non-partisan. NonStop Radio backs Progressive Talk and is unapologetically partisan. After all, the Truth becomes partisan when one party dedicates itself to the Lie. NSR wants to help get the truth out on the radio airwaves.

Secondly, if you support Progressive Talk, you almost certainly know that accomplishing necessary goals like universal healthcare, 100% public financing of elections and rebuilding the national infrastructure will take us all pitching in - and that's called "taxes". Wise application of fair taxes will be how we make this country great again. It would feel more than a little hypocritical to have NSR advocate for a more Progressive society and then have contributing to NSR be a way to avoid taxation.
