One Step Closer to Better Radio

Thanks to tens of thousands of Free Press activists we are one significant
step closer to having hundreds -- if not thousands -- of new
Low-Power FM (LPFM) radio stations across the country.

Earlier this week, the Senate Commerce Committee voted
to advance the Local Community Radio Act of 2007 (S. 1675). This
bill is a first step in reclaiming the public airwaves with more
diverse, local and independent radio stations.

This is an important victory, but we have an
even greater challenge ahead.
Urge your representative to
support this bill in the House:

Legislators:
Pass the Local Community Radio Act

Remind your legislators how valuable local radio
is to communities. LPFM stations help provide information and
perspectives crucial to communities that are often ignored by
mainstream radio. But these intensely local outlets have been
limited to rural areas, denying thousands of would-be LPFM
station operators the opportunity to serve their communities.

Your elected officials needs to hear from people
in your state. Help us get more people involved in this
important effort. Please tell your friends, family and
colleagues to send letters in support of LPFM:
