Net Neutrality Supporters Meet with Rep. Doyle

Last week a group of Free Press activists attended a meeting with Rep. Mike Doyle (D - Pa.) to thank him for his continued support of Net Neutrality and discuss other important issues facing the future of the Internet. The meeting was held in Rep. Doyle's Pittsburgh office and the Congressman reaffirmed his commitment to support Net Neutrality legislation when introduced. Here is a an excerpt from an attendee of the meeting: "He was quite receptive and tremendously well-informed. For instance, we were surprised to find out that when Verizon installs FiOS internet (only to the affluent suburbs of Pittsburgh, not the city itself), they're removing their old copper lines that run to houses, so that smaller companies will have a more difficult time providing services, if the need ever arose.""He mentioned that both your average citizen, and Congressperson, would not know much about the issue. He expressed concern with educating the public on the issue."This meeting is apart of a series of nearly 20 in-district meetings that are happening during the August congressional recess.Check out a blog post detailing the first 40 in-district meetings that took place earlier this year.
