Net Neutrality is First Question on YouTube for Presidential Candidates

It is only fitting that the first questioned submitted on YouTube for the democratic presidential debate contest asks the candidates about Net Neutrality.

During this revolutionary debate that will take place on Monday evening, July 23, the candidates will have to respond directly to the people and answer questions submitted by Americans across the country.

If giant telecommunications companies control where you go and what you do on-line, this type of participatory democracy will not exist. It is essential that all presidential candidates take a stand and agree to protect Internet freedom. Since all questions were submitted through the Internet, this debate further shows the importance of maintaining an open and neutral Internet.

The Resident -- an online and on-TV talk show that offers an alternative viewpoint on pop culture and current events through interviews, on-the-street fun, and vlogs -- responded quickly to submit the first question to the presidential candidates and ask about Net Neutrality.

In addition to this question, nearly 20 others posted questions focusing on the future of the Internet.
