Rashad Robinson
Rashad Robinson is senior director of media programs at the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), where he was previously director of regional media. In his new role, Rashad works directly with other senior staff at GLAAD and oversees a number of programs, including entertainment media, media field strategy, national news, people of color media strategy, and the newly created young adult and faith programs. Before joining GLAAD, Rashad served as communications director for the Right to Vote Campaign, a national collaboration of eight major civil rights organizations dedicated to ending felony disfranchisement. Rashad also served as national field director with FairVote. Rashad has been a featured spokesperson on an array of issues in print, radio and television. His opinion pieces and articles have appeared on numerous Internet media sites as well as in print publications such as the Los Angeles Times and Crisis Magazine. In 2004, Rashad appeared for 10 weeks as the youngest contestant on Showtime's reality series, American Candidate. Rashad is a graduate of Marymount University in Arlington, Va. He currently sits on the board of directors for FairVote and the Democracy Action Project.
