Nick Szuberla

Appalshop/Thousand Kites Project

Nick Szuberla is a media artist who has broadcast his performances and media projects throughout America, at venues that include the Policy Research Institute's Rural Network Conference in Abingdon, Va.; Southeast Community College in Harlan, Ky.; and the National Performance Network's annual meeting in Chicago. His grants include a Rockefeller MAP grant and an award from the Paul Robeson Fund, and he has been an artist-in-residence at the Kellogg Foundation's Mid-South Delta Initiative; at Carpetbag Theater in Knoxville, Tenn.; and the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center in San Antonio, Texas. Szuberla is a community media initiative artist at Appalshop in Whitesburg, Ky., and is a co-founder of Holler to the Hood.
