Keith Kamisugi is director of communications at the Equal Justice Society. He was previously a regional spokesman for Verizon Communications, an account manager at the tech PR firm Niehaus Ryan Wong, and an independent PR consultant. Keith's legal and nonprofit public relations background includes consulting for the law firm Minami Tamaki LLP on PR and marketing, the Asian Law Caucus on voter education, the Coalition of Asian Pacific Americans political action committee, the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) and UNITY: Journalists of Color Inc. He has managed communications for several AAJA national conventions and served as communications director for the UNITY 2004 convention, which was attended by more than 7,000 journalists of color in Washington. Keith received AAJA's national award for Member of the Year in 2004; he was the only non-journalist to receive that recognition. Before starting his PR career, Keith served on the executive staffs of two Hawai'i governors and as an aide in the Hawai'i State Senate. Keith frequently speaks on topics related to public relations, business, social justice, and e-advocacy. Keith is a blogger on his own sites, keithpr.com and hapihour.org.
